UPCOMING EVENT
FÚTBOL ON FILM
Roxie Theater, San Francisco • Sunday, March 29 at 12pm
Presented by CiNEOLA, San Francisco City FC & Public Access FC
Fútbol goes beyond stadiums, chants, and mainstream representations. This frenzied devotion is a form of introspection, as fans find a sense of belonging, and at times, sense of understanding amid political and social events shaping their communities. Past, present or future, this program proposes that we give meaning to games and study them as part of the fabric of our identity.
About the program
Starting with a selection of Latin American short films, the screening will also feature a work-in-progress teaser of local filmmaker Daniel Díaz’s upcoming documentary Roll Fog, a film about the oldest community-owned fútbol club in the U.S., San Francisco City FC, and the heart of its supporters. The program will end with a panel discussion with community members about the project and local fútbol culture in San Francisco.
We encourage you to turn up to the theater wearing your football shirts, team scarves, and flags!
